The Warwick History Society has been an established part of Warwick life since 2004. Our raison d’être is to welcome anybody with an interest in history, whether that is your course of study or not. Our history society does not limit itself to solely history students either and we would also like to warmly welcome those studying History of Art, Creative American Studies, Joint honors history courses and anyone else.
The Society offers many activities ranging from relevant pursuits for your course of study in the form of guest lecturers talking on a specialist historical topic, but we are also hoping to hold talks and discussions by other eminent individuals who work in the reality of the modern world. There are skills sessions with our sponsors available and the mentoring scheme. Other events organised include many social get-togethers such as themed bar crawls, and gatherings to check out the best of the local night life. An opportunity for fresher’s to mingle and also get to know the older students in a social environment whilst familiarising themselves with the local area.
2011/2012 should be one of the most exciting years The History Society has seen with a brand new exec who are ready to set new parameters. The noteworthy annual History Ball, which has won Best Social of the Year award (2010) the Trip abroad which last year was to Berlin. This years trip destination will be decided on by your vote at the fresher’s fair, with a selection of destinations such as, Dubrovnik, Trieste, Seville, Paris, or Rome just to name a few. There is also the traditional historical excursion to our very own Warwick Castle. This year will also see us running a film series based around popular historical themes…
